The goal of Systems Hacks has always been to bring a hackathon to students in a comfortable and accessible environment for hackers. Through creative themes, plenty of mentors and a focus on the student experiance, we value creative and thoughtful solutions, teamwork, and having fun! SystemsHacks is perfect for the first time hacker, with a shorter duration than most, and a smaller emphasis on technical prowess. So come join us, bring some friends, and lets get hacking!
The Software Systems Student Society – or the SSSS – is a society that represents the interests of the Software Systems student body. Our work ranges from taking student concerns to faculty, to hosting technical events such as Systems Hacks for our students, to monthly board games nights to help students destress. Don't be like Ein, come check us out!
The 90's were a time of extreme advances in communication, information and digital technologies. Cellphones could fit in pockets, computers on desks, and some pretty great games were made. Perhaps you will start a 1990’s internet company, ride the dot com bubble, shape an infant internet or revolutionize the communication world. Some might create an entertainment product for a 90’s console / computer / arcade machine, based on a pop cultural phenomenon. We just hope you invent something with the 90's in mind, and shape the future in a time of new beginnings.
All hackathon projects must be built from scratch, although it is ok if you came up with the idea beforehand. This rule is strictly adhered to at Systems Hacks and any team found working on a project that they already started will be automatically disqualified in the event. However this does not apply to any libraries or tools that you have made, so feel free to use libraries and any other code!
Hackathons are a time to breed innovation and collaboration, and a great place to connect with other hackers. We want to encourage that with Systems Hacks, so no, you can’t.
Everyone must have a group of 3-4 people.
Don’t worry! We will have a Slack channel for team formation, and we’ll give you an opportunity to mingle with other students before the event starts! Hackathons are just as fun with people you’ve just met!
Absolutely! All kinds of hacks are encouraged and valid!
